A story for: Remy, Age 7
Created August 28, 2026
Tonight, Remy snuggled into her soft, warm bed. Her cozy blanket felt like a gentle hug, and her favorite stuffed animal, a fluffy, wise-looking owl named Hoot, was tucked right beside her.
“Tell me a story, Hoot,” Remy whispered, her eyelids feeling a little heavy. Hoot, of course, didn’t speak with words, but in Remy’s heart, she always knew exactly what Hoot was thinking. Tonight, Hoot was thinking of a special place, a place just for Remy.
Remy closed her eyes, and as she did, she imagined she was in a beautiful, secret garden. It wasn't just any garden; it was Remy's very own. The grass was the softest green, like velvet under her bare feet, and tiny, glowing fireflies danced in the air, lighting her way like friendly stars.
In the center of her garden, there was a magnificent tree. Its branches reached up to touch the soft, purple evening sky, and its leaves shimmered with all the colors of a rainbow when the moonlight touched them. Remy loved this tree because it held a little swing, made of sturdy vines and covered in gentle moss. She imagined swinging gently, back and forth, feeling the cool, fresh air on her face and hearing the rustle of the leaves above her.
As she swung, she heard a sound, a peaceful, melodic sound. It was the sound of a whispering waterfall. Remy followed the sound, past bushes heavy with sweet-smelling night-blooming jasmine, and found herself beside a clear, sparkling stream. The waterfall wasn't loud or booming; it was quiet and gentle, like a lullaby.
The water tumbled softly over smooth, round stones, making a soft shushing sound – *shhh-shhh-shhh* – that was so calming. Remy sat on a comfy patch of moss beside the stream and watched the water flow. Each little ripple and swirl seemed to carry away any worries, leaving only peace behind.
She dipped her toes into the cool water. It felt like a thousand tiny kisses, refreshing and lovely. She saw little glowing pebbles at the bottom of the stream, twinkling like fallen stars. The air was filled with the sweet scent of the night flowers and the earthy smell of the forest. Everything felt just right, perfectly calm and safe.
Remy leaned back, letting the gentle sounds of the waterfall fill her ears. The fireflies twinkled above her, making soft, yellow lights that danced with the shadows. Hoot, who was still snuggled beside her, seemed to sigh contentedly. Remy felt her body grow heavier, her eyelids fluttered, and the edges of her secret garden began to soften and blur.
The whispering waterfall sang its gentle song, *shhh-shhh-shhh*, helping Remy to drift deeper and deeper into a peaceful sleep. She knew that her secret garden would always be there, waiting for her dreams to take her back. And as the last sounds of the waterfall faded, Remy was fast asleep, dreaming of glowing pebbles and rainbow leaves.
