A story for: Luna, Age 4
Created June 26, 2026
Once upon a time, nestled deep in a valley where the moonbeams always sparkled, lived a tiny mouse named Luna. Luna wasn't like other mice; she had ears as soft as dandelion fluff and eyes that twinkled like the first evening stars. Every night, just as the sun said its sleepy goodbyes, Luna would peek out from her cozy little home under the roots of a giant, gentle oak tree.
Tonight, the air was extra soft, like a whispered lullaby. Luna wiggled her nose, sniffing the sweet smell of night-blooming jasmine. She felt a special pull, a gentle hum, inviting her deeper into the forest than usual. This wasn't just any forest; it was the Whispering Woods, a place where, people said, stars sometimes came down to play.
Taking a deep, brave breath, Luna tiptoed out. The path before her glowed, not with moonlight, but with tiny, soft lights. As she walked, she realized these weren't fireflies. No, these were like little pieces of the night sky, fallen and scattered all around her! Tiny, glittering specks floated gently in the air, like dust made of diamonds. They shimmered on the leaves of the trees, making them look like they were wearing sparkling gowns.
“Oh my,” whispered Luna, her tiny heart filled with wonder. She had never seen anything so beautiful. The forest was alive with a soft, warm glow. Each little star seemed to pulse with a gentle, sleepy light. Some were blue, like a dream. Others were soft gold, like honey. And a few were a gentle, sleepy pink, like the inside of a seashell.
Luna felt so safe and happy surrounded by these glowing friends. She watched as one tiny star, no bigger than her paw, slowly drifted down and landed on a soft mossy patch. It pulsed with a warm, steady light. Luna carefully padded over and lay down beside it. The moss was like a soft, green blanket.
As she snuggled closer, the little star seemed to hum a quiet, sleepy tune. It wasn't a sound with words, but a feeling of peace that wrapped around her like a warm hug. The air grew softer still, and the gentle glow of a thousand tiny stars twinkled all around her, like a million sleepy eyes watching over her.
Luna’s eyelids began to feel heavy, so very heavy. The star beside her pulsed, a steady, comforting rhythm. She imagined each little light was a goodnight kiss from the sky. With a contented sigh, Luna snuggled deeper into the moss, feeling the soft warmth of the tiny star beside her. The glowing forest whispered sweet dreams, and Luna, surrounded by her starry friends, drifted off into a deep, peaceful sleep, dreaming of shimmering lights and gentle, soft glows.
