A story for: Leo, Age 3
Created September 10, 2026
Once upon a time, high above the puffy white clouds, lived a little dragon named Leo. Leo wasn't like other dragons you might imagine. He didn't breathe fiery flames; instead, he puffed out soft, sparkly, sleepy dust. And his scales weren't red or green, but shimmered in gentle shades of lavender and sky blue.
Every evening, as the sun began to whisper goodnight to the world, Leo would wake up. His most important job was to help the big, round moon get ready for bed. Tonight, Leo stretched his tiny wings, which felt as soft as velvet, and yawned a big, wide yawn. He looked up, and there was the moon, glowing brightly, but looking a little bit tired. Its light was a bit too sparkly, and it blinked slowly, like it was trying to stay awake.
“Good evening, dear Moon!” Leo chirped, his voice a soft rustle, like leaves in a gentle breeze. “Are you ready for your cozy sleep?”
The Moon sighed, a long, quiet sigh that made the stars twinkle just a little bit more. “Oh, Leo,” the Moon whispered back, its voice like the gentle hum of a lullaby. “I’m so tired, but I just can’t seem to dim my light enough to truly rest.”
Leo understood perfectly. He knew just what to do. He took a deep breath, and then, with a soft puff, he blew out a cloud of his special sleepy dust. The dust wasn't itchy or tickly; it was warm and shimmering, like tiny, sleepy fireflies. It drifted slowly towards the Moon, swirling around its bright edges.
As the sleepy dust touched the Moon, its bright light began to soften. The sparkling grew gentler, and a warm, golden glow spread across its surface. Leo puffed again, and again, each time sending more of his soothing dust. The Moon’s glow became softer and softer, until it was just a gentle, comforting light that peeked through the night sky.
“Oh, that feels so lovely, Leo,” the Moon murmured, its voice now even sleepier. “Just perfect.”
Leo smiled, a tiny, happy dragon smile. He saw the Moon close its big, round eye, and settle into a peaceful, dreaming sleep. Now, the world below was bathed in a soft, dreamy light, just right for everyone to drift off to dreamland.
Leo knew his job was done. He yawned one last, big yawn, feeling the sleepy dust settle on his own tiny scales. His eyelids felt heavy, heavy, heavy. He found a soft, fluffy cloud, just the right size for a little dragon, and curled up. The Moon was sleeping peacefully, and soon, Leo was too, dreaming sweet dreams of soft clouds and gentle starlight. Goodnight, little Leo. Goodnight, little one.
