Luna and the Whispering Cloud

A story for: Luna, Age 7

Created September 03, 2026

Once upon a time, nestled in a cozy little house, lived a sweet girl named Luna. Luna loved bedtime stories, but her very favorite kind were the ones that felt made just for her, like a soft, warm blanket woven with her own dreams.

Tonight, as the stars began to twinkle, Luna snuggled deep into her bed. Her soft bunny, Barnaby, was tucked beside her, his ears flopped just right. Outside her window, a gentle breeze whispered through the leaves, sounding like a lullaby.

Suddenly, a tiny, silvery cloud drifted past her window. It wasn't an ordinary cloud; this cloud glowed with a soft, warm light, and it seemed to hum a quiet, happy tune. Luna watched, her eyes wide with wonder, as the cloud floated closer, peeking through the glass.

“Hello, Luna,” a soft, shimmering voice whispered from the cloud. It sounded like the chime of wind chimes on a sunny day. “I’ve come to tell you a story, a special one, just for you.”

Luna giggled, a tiny, sleepy sound. “For me?” she asked, her voice barely a whisper.

“Yes, for you,” the cloud hummed. “It’s a story about a girl who helps the stars shine brighter.”

The cloud began to tell a tale of a brave little girl with sparkling eyes, just like Luna’s, who lived in a village where the stars had grown a little dim. The girl, with a heart full of kindness, would go outside every evening and tell each star how much she loved its light, how beautiful it was, and how it made her feel safe. And with every loving word, the stars would glow a little brighter, until the whole sky sparkled with joy.

As the cloud spoke, Luna imagined herself walking among the stars, whispering kind words to each one. She pictured the stars winking back at her, their light growing warmer and more golden with her love. She felt a warm glow spread through her own chest, as if she, too, was helping the stars shine.

The cloud’s voice was like a soft, flowing river, carrying Luna on a gentle journey. It described the smell of sleepy lavender, the feel of softest moonbeams, and the sound of quiet crickets singing their goodnight songs. Luna's eyelids grew heavy, her breath slowing to a soft, even rhythm.

“And that little girl,” the cloud whispered, its light growing even softer, “knew that she was loved more than all the stars in the sky. And so, she closed her eyes, knowing she was safe, warm, and cherished, ready for sweet dreams.”

The silvery cloud slowly drifted away from the window, its glow fading into the night. Luna’s head nestled deeper into her pillow. A small smile played on her lips. She felt so loved, so perfectly peaceful. The last thing she heard was the gentle whisper of the breeze, and then, Luna was fast asleep, dreaming of sparkling stars and whispered stories, wrapped in the warmth of being truly, deeply loved.
