A story for: Kai, Age 3
Created October 09, 2026
Once upon a time, high above the quiet world, lived a very special little dragon named Kai. Kai wasn't like other dragons who breathed big, fiery smoke. Oh no! Kai breathed soft, sparkly, sleepy dust.
Every night, when the stars began to twinkle, Kai would wake up. His scales were the color of a soft lavender flower, and his wings were as gentle as a butterfly's. He loved to watch the moon. The moon was big and round and bright, like a friendly cookie in the sky.
One evening, Kai noticed something. The moon looked a little tired. Its light wasn't quite as bright, and it seemed to sigh a little, a very, very quiet sigh that only Kai could hear. Kai flew closer, his little heart filled with kindness. "Hello, dear Moon!" he whispered, his voice like a tiny, warm bell. "Are you sleepy?"
The Moon blinked slowly, its big, round face looking down at Kai. It seemed to nod. Being the Moon was a very important job, staying up all night, lighting the way for sleepy children and sleepy animals. It was hard work!
Kai had an idea. He took a deep, gentle breath and blew. Out of his nose came the most beautiful, shimmering, sleepy dust. It floated all around the Moon like tiny, sparkly snowflakes. The dust smelled like warm milk and soft blankets.
The Moon’s light began to dim, just a little. It stretched a big, sleepy stretch, making the stars jiggle. Kai blew a little more sleepy dust, circling around the Moon with his soft wings.
The sleepy dust made the Moon feel so cozy and warm. Its big, round face started to close its eyes. Slower and slower, the Moon’s light grew softer and softer, until it was just a gentle glow, like a nightlight in the sky.
Kai watched, happy that he could help his friend. He nestled close to the now very sleepy Moon, feeling the quiet calm all around them. The stars twinkled their goodnights, and the whole world below was still and peaceful.
Kai yawned a big, sleepy yawn. Helping the Moon fall asleep had made him very sleepy too. He closed his own lavender eyes, feeling safe and warm beside the sleeping Moon. He drifted off to sleep, dreaming of soft clouds and gentle breezes, until the morning sun peeked over the horizon, ready for a new day. Goodnight, Kai. Goodnight, Moon.
