A story for: Zoe, Age 4
Created October 26, 2026
Once upon a time, nestled in a land of soft green hills and sparkling little streams, lived a sweet girl named Zoe. Zoe had the most wonderful bed, which she imagined was a grand castle tower, just for her.
Every night, when the sun dipped below the horizon, painting the sky with gentle oranges and purples, Zoe would get ready for her castle adventure. First, she’d put on her coziest pajamas, which felt like fluffy clouds against her skin. Then, she’d climb into her bed, her very own castle tower, where her softest blanket was the royal drape and her pillows were the comfiest thrones.
Tonight, Zoe snuggled deep into her castle. She looked out her window, which she pretended was a grand castle archway. The moon, a friendly sliver of silver, peeked from behind a sleepy cloud, casting a soft glow into her room. "Hello, Moon," whispered Zoe. "Are you watching over my castle tonight?"
Outside, the world was quieting down. The little birds in the trees had sung their last lullabies and tucked their heads under their wings. The busy little squirrels had found their cozy nests and were dreaming of acorns. Even the wind, which sometimes loved to whoosh and play, was now just a gentle, whispering breeze, softly rustling the leaves outside Zoe's castle walls.
Zoe closed her eyes and imagined she was the princess of this peaceful castle. Her bed was made of softest moss, and her blanket was woven from starlight. Around her castle, a gentle river flowed, making a quiet, murmuring sound, like a secret sleepy song.
She imagined tiny, sparkling fireflies dancing in the castle gardens, their lights blinking on and off like little sleepy stars. A friendly, fluffy cloud floated by her window, offering a soft goodnight kiss. Everything in her castle was calm and safe.
Zoe took a deep, gentle breath, and then another. Her castle tower felt so warm and cozy. Her eyelids felt heavy, like they were made of softest down. The gentle murmur of the river, the whisper of the breeze, and the quiet sparkle of the fireflies all joined together to sing her a lullaby. She felt herself sinking deeper and deeper into her soft moss bed, wrapped in her starlight blanket, safe and sound in her sleepy castle. And as the moon watched over her, Zoe drifted off to sleep, dreaming sweet dreams of her magical, peaceful castle.
