A story for: Sage, Age 4
Created October 15, 2026
Once upon a time, in a cozy little house tucked beside a field of soft, whispering dandelions, lived a sweet child named Sage. Sage loved to explore and play, but as the sun began to dip below the horizon, painting the sky in shades of orange and purple, Sage knew it was time for a very special adventure – the adventure of bedtime.
Tonight, the moon was a friendly, crescent smile in the sky, and the stars twinkled like tiny diamonds sprinkled on a dark velvet cloth. Sage snuggled into bed, pulling the soft blanket right up to her chin. The room was dim, lit only by the gentle glow of a nightlight shaped like a sleepy bear.
Sage closed her eyes and took a deep, quiet breath. She imagined she was floating on a fluffy white cloud, high above the world. The cloud was so soft and bouncy, it felt like being hugged by a million cotton balls. Below her, the world looked peaceful and small. She could see little houses, like tiny toy blocks, and winding roads that looked like ribbons.
As Sage floated higher, she saw the stars up close. They weren't just tiny dots; they were big, sparkling jewels, each one humming a soft, sleepy song. One star, the brightest of them all, winked at Sage. It had a warm, gentle glow that made her feel safe and loved.
Suddenly, the cloud gently drifted towards the moon. The moon, with its big, friendly smile, seemed to beckon her closer. Sage could almost touch its silvery surface. It was cool and smooth, like a polished pebble. The moon whispered a secret to Sage, a very special secret just for her: "Sleep well, little one. Dream sweet dreams."
Sage felt a soft, sleepy feeling spread through her toes, up her legs, and all the way to her nose. Her eyelids felt heavy, like tiny curtains wanting to close. The cloud slowly, gently, began to drift back down towards her cozy bed. It moved so slowly, she barely noticed the descent.
Back in her bed, Sage could still feel the softness of the cloud and the warm glow of the winking star. She heard the quiet chirping of a cricket outside her window and the soft rustle of leaves in the evening breeze. Each sound was like a lullaby, helping her drift deeper and deeper into sleep.
Sage snuggled even closer into her pillow, feeling safe and loved. Her breathing became slow and steady, like the gentle waves of a quiet ocean. The friendly moon watched over her, and the sleepy bear nightlight kept a soft glow. Sage was ready for wonderful dreams, drifting into a peaceful, starry slumber.
