A story for: Ivy, Age 3
Created October 08, 2026
Deep in the Whispering Woods, where the moonbeams tiptoed through the leaves, lived a very brave little bunny named Ivy. Ivy had soft, white fur and the twitchiest nose you ever did see. But what made Ivy truly special was her job: she was the keeper of the Dream Lantern.
The Dream Lantern wasn't like any other lantern. It didn't burn with a fiery flame. Oh no! It glowed with soft, shimmery light, like captured starlight, and it smelled faintly of warm milk and sleepy flowers. Each night, when the sun dipped below the sleepy hills and the stars began to twinkle, Ivy would gently take the Dream Lantern from its cozy little nook in her burrrow.
“Time for dreams!” she would whisper to herself, her whiskers wiggling with excitement. She would carry the lantern carefully, her little paws padding softly on the mossy ground. The Dream Lantern swayed ever so gently, casting its warm, golden glow all around her, making the path ahead sparkle.
First, Ivy would visit Mrs. Owl, who was always busy reading her big, leafy books. Ivy would hold the Dream Lantern up high, and Mrs. Owl would yawn a great, wide yawn. Soon, she would be dreaming of delicious berries and soft, fluffy clouds.
Next, Ivy would hop to the riverbank where the little fish swam. She’d dip the lantern just a tiny bit, and the shimmery light would dance on the water. The fish would slowly drift down to the soft, sandy bottom, dreaming of peaceful swims and bubbly games.
Then, Ivy would visit the sleepy squirrels in their tree. She’d shine the Dream Lantern through their window, and they’d snuggle deeper into their nutty beds, dreaming of chasing butterflies and finding the biggest acorns.
Finally, when all the forest friends were tucked in and dreaming sweet dreams, Ivy would hop back to her own cozy burrow. She would place the Dream Lantern right beside her tiny bed, and its soft light would fill her room with a sleepy glow. The lantern would whisper little stories to her, stories of gentle breezes and warm sunshine, of soft clover and happy hops.
Ivy would pull her snuggly leaf blanket up to her chin. The Dream Lantern hummed a soft, lullaby song, and Ivy’s eyes would start to feel very heavy. She snuggled down, feeling safe and warm. The last thing she saw was the gentle, golden light of the Dream Lantern, and then Ivy, the brave little bunny, drifted off into her own wonderful, peaceful dreams.
