Ivy's Starlight Nap

A story for: Ivy, Age 3

Created September 22, 2026

Ivy loved the night. She loved how her room felt cozy and warm when the lights were off, and how a tiny, soft light from the moon peeked through her window. Tonight, Ivy was going on a special adventure right from her bed!

"Are you ready, little explorer?" a gentle voice whispered. It sounded like her own cozy blanket. Ivy snuggled deeper, her eyes wide with sleepy wonder. "Yes!" she whispered back.

Slowly, her bed began to float. Not really float, but it felt like it was lifting, lifting, up, up, and away! Through her window, the houses below looked like tiny little blocks, and the trees were just fuzzy green dots. Ivy giggled softly.

Her bed was now a little spaceship, soft and comfy, soaring into the inky blue sky. Twinkling lights appeared all around them. "Look, Ivy!" the gentle voice hummed. "Those are the stars! Each one is like a tiny, shiny diamond hanging in the sky."

Ivy pointed a small finger. "Sparkles!" she cooed. The stars were so beautiful. Some were bright white, some were warm yellow, and some even had a tiny hint of blue. They danced and shimmered just for her.

Soon, a big, round, glowy orb appeared. "That's the moon, Ivy," the voice explained. "It watches over us while we sleep. It's a friendly, sleepy face in the sky."

Ivy saw craters on the moon, like little dimples. She imagined a friendly moon bunny hopping softly across its surface, leaving sleepy dust behind. She stretched her arm out, wishing she could touch the soft, pearly glow.

As they floated past planets, the voice told her gentle stories. About a red planet that loved to nap, and a striped planet that wore a cozy blanket of clouds. Ivy imagined the planets snuggling in their beds, just like she did.

The stars seemed to hum a lullaby, a very quiet, gentle song that made Ivy’s eyelids feel heavy. The soft hum of her blanket-spaceship was a comforting sound. She saw a shooting star zoom by, leaving a trail of shimmering sleepy dust. Ivy made a silent wish: to have the sweetest dreams.

Her journey through the stars was winding down. The friendly moon blinked slowly, and the stars began to fade a little, as if they were getting ready for their own rest. Ivy's comfy bed-spaceship began to drift gently back down, down, down.

It landed softly right in her bedroom, beside her window. The moonbeam still peeked in, like a soft nightlight. Ivy snuggled under her blanket. The stars outside were now just tiny pinpricks of light, but she knew they were still there, watching over her. She closed her eyes, feeling safe and warm, and drifted off to sleep, dreaming of sparkling stars and the friendly, sleepy moon.
