Mia's Dream Castle

A story for: Mia, Age 7

Created July 29, 2026

Mia snuggled deep into her soft, warm bed. The moonbeams peeked gently through her window, painting silver stripes across her room. Tonight, Mia felt especially cozy, and her eyelids felt heavy, like tiny curtains ready to close for a show.

She imagined she was in her very own castle. Not just any castle, but a Dream Castle, made of puffy clouds and sparkling stardust. The walls were marshmallow soft, and the towers reached up to touch the sleepy stars. Instead of hard stone, the floors were made of fluffy carpets that felt like walking on a hundred tiny, happy kittens.

In her Dream Castle, there were no strict rules, only gentle wishes. Mia, the Princess of Dreams, floated through her grand hall. Tiny, glowing fireflies, like little lanterns, lit her path. They danced and twirled around her, making soft, silent music.

She peeked into her royal kitchen, where the air smelled of warm cookies and sweet berry tea. Little cookie sprites, with flour dust on their tiny noses, were baking up sleepy treats. They waved their spatulas at her, and Mia giggled, a whisper-soft sound.

Next, she visited her garden. It wasn't filled with prickly roses, but with flowers that glowed in soft, rainbow colors. Each petal was a different shade of sleepiness – lavender for calm, pale blue for peace, and soft pink for sweet dreams. Butterflies with wings like painted silk fluttered slowly, sipping nectar from the glowing blossoms. They moved so gracefully, as if performing a sleepy ballet just for her.

Mia found a swing in her garden, made of a long, velvety ribbon and a seat like a crescent moon. She sat on it, and it swayed ever so gently, back and forth, back and forth. With each swing, she felt herself floating higher, closer to the stars, and then drifting softly down, like a feather.

The stars outside her castle window twinkled just for her, winking like sleepy eyes. The moon, a big, friendly face, smiled down, casting a soft, silvery blanket over everything. Mia felt so safe, so loved, and so very, very sleepy.

She closed her eyes on the moon-swing. The gentle swaying continued, a lullaby without words. Her Dream Castle was now quiet, the fireflies dimming, the cookie sprites fast asleep in their flour beds. The rainbow flowers glowed a final, soft shimmer. Mia's breathing became slow and even, a tiny sigh escaping her lips. In her Dream Castle, surrounded by peace and quiet, Princess Mia drifted into the deepest, sweetest slumber.
