A story for: Cleo, Age 5
Created November 04, 2026
Once upon a time, nestled in a valley where the moonbeams danced on the tallest towers, lived a little girl named Cleo. Cleo lived in a magnificent castle, not a scary, dark one, but a castle filled with soft, warm light and the gentle scent of lavender.
Every evening, as the sun dipped below the hills, painting the sky in shades of sleepy orange and soft pink, Cleo would begin her special bedtime routine. First, she would visit the castle's grand library. Not to read big, heavy books, but to choose her favorite storybook, the one with the velvet cover and the pictures of friendly dragons. She’d hug it close, feeling the soft texture against her cheek.
Next, Cleo would tiptoe through the Hall of Whispers. It wasn't really whispering, of course, just the gentle sound of the breeze sighing through the tall, open windows. She imagined the breeze was telling her sleepy secrets, like how the stars were getting ready to twinkle, and how the moon was polishing its silver glow just for her.
Her favorite part was the winding staircase to her bedroom tower. Each step was covered in a thick, fluffy carpet, making her feet feel like they were walking on clouds. As she climbed, she’d look out of the little windows, watching the last of the birds flutter to their nests, their chirps growing softer and softer.
When she finally reached her room, it was always waiting for her, warm and inviting. Her bed was like a giant fluffy cloud, piled high with soft blankets and plump pillows. On her bedside table, a little nightlight glowed like a friendly firefly.
Cleo would put her storybook carefully on her pillow, then slip into her softest pajamas. They felt like a gentle hug all over her body. She’d snuggle under her blankets, feeling utterly safe and warm. She closed her eyes and took a deep, slow breath, smelling the faint scent of lavender from her pillow.
She imagined her castle, peaceful and quiet, all tucked in for the night. The towers stood tall, guarding her as she slept. The moon peeked through her window, a friendly, watchful eye. Cleo felt her eyelids grow heavy, her body sinking deeper into the soft mattress. She was so cozy, so warm, so very sleepy. And as a soft, gentle yawn escaped her, Cleo drifted off to sleep, dreaming of friendly dragons and moonlit towers.
