A story for: Theo, Age 7
Created September 15, 2026
Once upon a time, nestled in a valley where the moonbeams always seemed to linger, stood a beautiful, quiet castle. It wasn't a castle with knights and dragons, but one made of soft, silvery stone that hummed with gentle magic. This was the home of a little boy named Theo, who loved nothing more than a good story and a cozy bed.
Tonight, Theo was snuggled deep under his quilt, listening to the soft whisper of the night outside his window. He imagined the castle around him was slowly, gently, preparing for sleep, just like him. Each turret, he thought, was yawning a tiny, silent yawn. The tall, elegant windows were slowly closing their 'eyes' as the stars began to twinkle brighter.
The great hall, usually filled with the happy echo of his own laughter during the day, was now peaceful and still. Theo pictured the long, plush carpets there, settling down for a long rest, their threads softening even more in the quiet.
He imagined the castle's garden, just beyond his window, where the sleepy roses were tucking their petals in for the night. The little fireflies, their tiny lights glowing like scattered diamonds, were saying goodnight to the dewdrops on the leaves, promising to sparkle again with the morning sun.
Theo thought of the very tip-top of the highest tower, where a friendly, old owl often perched. He imagined the owl, with its wise, soft eyes, blinking slowly, sending sleepy thoughts down to everyone in the castle. *Hoo-hoo*, went a soft, imaginary call in Theo’s mind, a sound as gentle as a lullaby.
The stone walls of the castle felt warm and safe around him, like a giant, comforting hug. He imagined the castle itself was breathing slowly, a quiet, steady breath that matched his own. *In… out… in… out…*
Theo closed his eyes, picturing the castle wrapped in a blanket of moonlight, everything peaceful and still. He felt his own body growing heavy and warm, sinking deeper into his soft bed. The sleepy castle was settling down, and so was he. His breaths grew longer, steadier. The gentle magic of the quiet castle filled his room, making his eyelids feel very, very heavy. He drifted, feeling safe and loved, into a deep and happy sleep, dreaming of the peaceful, moonlit castle.
