A story for: Finn, Age 7
Created September 20, 2026
Tonight, as the stars began to twinkle like tiny diamonds scattered across a velvet cloth, little Finn snuggled deep into his warm, soft bed. His favorite blanket, the one with the fluffy sheep, was pulled right up to his chin.
Finn loved bedtime. It was when his imagination could truly take flight. He closed his eyes, and a gentle voice, like the soft hum of a sleepy bee, began to whisper in his mind. It was the voice of the night, ready to tell him a story.
“Imagine, Finn,” the voice began, “that you are floating on a big, fluffy cloud. This cloud is made of the softest cotton candy you can imagine, and it smells faintly of warm milk and honey.”
Finn could almost feel the gentle bobbing of the cloud beneath him. It moved slowly, so slowly, through the quiet, starlit sky. He peeked over the edge of his cloud and saw the world below, sleeping peacefully. Houses looked like tiny toys, and trees were like miniature broccoli florets.
The cloud drifted higher, past the sleepy moon, which cast a silvery glow all around. Finn saw little star-fairies, no bigger than his thumb, polishing the stars until they sparkled even brighter. They waved at him with tiny, shimmering wings, and Finn waved back, a warm, sleepy smile on his face.
The air up here was so calm, so peaceful. It felt like a warm hug. He heard the whisper of the night wind, carrying soft, lullaby melodies from far, far away. Each note was like a gentle pat on his head, lulling him further and further into comfort.
His cloud began to descend, ever so slowly, towards a magical garden. This garden was filled with sleepy flowers that glowed with a soft, warm light. They hummed little songs, too quiet for anyone but Finn to hear. The petals were like velvet, and the leaves rustled with sleepy whispers.
In the center of the garden was a sparkling, moon-petal fountain. The water bubbled gently, making a soft, rhythmic sound, like a gentle heartbeat. Finn’s cloud floated closer, and he could feel the cool, sweet mist on his cheeks. It smelled like dew drops and dreams.
He felt so safe, so warm, so loved. The cloud, his cozy, gentle cloud, began to settle down right beside the moon-petal fountain. Finn’s eyelids felt heavier and heavier, like tiny, soft curtains closing over his eyes. The soft hum of the sleepy flowers, the gentle bubbling of the fountain, and the quiet whisper of the night wind all joined together to sing him a lullaby.
Finn burrowed deeper into his imaginary cloud, feeling himself sink into the softest sleep imaginable. He knew the moon and stars would watch over him, and that his cozy cloud would keep him safe until morning. With a final, peaceful sigh, Finn drifted off to sleep, dreaming of his magical cloud journey.
