A story for: Remy, Age 4
Created September 11, 2026
The moon was a soft, sleepy smile in the sky, and the stars were tiny, twinkling nightlights. Inside a cozy little bedroom, Remy was tucked into bed, snuggled under a soft, blue blanket.
Remy loved bedtime. It was a time for quiet whispers and gentle dreams. Tonight, Remy’s teddy bear, Barnaby, was snuggled close, his button eyes looking up at Remy with a sleepy gaze.
“Goodnight, Barnaby,” Remy whispered, giving Barnaby a little pat. “Are you ready for a story?” Barnaby seemed to nod, his soft head bobbing gently.
Outside Remy’s window, a fluffy white cloud drifted by, slow and peaceful. It looked like a giant, soft pillow floating in the dark blue sky. Remy watched it for a moment, feeling very calm.
Suddenly, the cloud seemed to whisper. It was a soft, breezy sound, like the rustle of leaves or the gentle hum of a sleepy bee. Remy leaned a little closer to the window, feeling curious.
“Hello, Cloud,” Remy whispered back. The cloud drifted a little closer, its edges glowing softly in the moonlight.
“Are you sleepy, little one?” whispered the cloud, its voice like a gentle lullaby. “I’m on my way to Dreamland, and I can carry you there too, if you’d like.”
Remy’s eyes widened just a tiny bit. “To Dreamland?”
“Yes,” hummed the cloud. “It’s a place where everything is soft and warm, and all your favorite sleepy thoughts come true. There are fields of fluffy cotton, and rivers of warm milk, and trees that sing lullabies.”
Remy imagined floating on the cloud. It felt so soft and safe. “Can Barnaby come too?” Remy asked.
“Of course,” whispered the cloud. “Everyone is welcome in Dreamland. Just close your eyes, take a deep breath, and imagine yourself floating with me.”
Remy snuggled deeper into the blanket, holding Barnaby close. Remy took a slow, deep breath, just like the cloud suggested. In… and out… In… and out…
The cloud’s whispers grew softer and softer, like a faraway song. Remy imagined floating higher and higher, wrapped in the cloud’s gentle embrace. The bed felt like a soft cloud, and the blanket felt like a warm, gentle hug.
The stars outside Remy’s window seemed to twinkle even more softly now, like tiny whispers of light. The moon’s smile grew wider, a gentle guardian watching over Remy.
Remy’s eyelids felt heavy, so very heavy. The cloud’s lullaby filled the room, a soft, sleepy hum. Remy’s breathing became slow and steady, like the gentle sway of a boat on a calm, quiet lake.
Soon, Remy was drifting, not just with the cloud, but into a deep, peaceful sleep. Dreamland was waiting, soft and warm, just like the cloud had promised.
